Who We Are - GARDEN CLUB OF GREATER MILWAUKEE

    The Sievert Garden

The gardens on this one-acre property are largely the life’s work of one man, the owner, who designed, planted and built what you see today

The property is predominantly a symphony of shade gardens with perennials selected mainly for their foliage, including 800 hostas. A celebrated feature is the abundance of local mosses used on flat ground, on mounds, in over 300 containers, and over 700 rocks. There is a water garden with three separate parts, a Japanese-style garden, a cactus and succulent garden, a sunken garden, a hillside garden, a stumpery, and a Williamsburg-inspired formal garden.

    An Unexpected Oasis in Brookfield

Perennials abound, with a touch of annuals for added color throughout the seasons in this suburban garden. Waterfalls and a lily pond add to the gardens’ calming atmosphere.

Whimsical, French, Japanese, native plant and Chihuly-like glass sculpture themes are incorporated into the various gardens. Come and enjoy, while getting some wonderful ideas as you contemplate your garden plans for next year and beyond!

    C's on Calhoun

Meandering grass paths bring you to garden beds filled with unique varieties of trees, shrubs, perennials, and ground covers gathered over many years. Both sides of the paths are planted with multiple layers of textures and colors in both sunny and shady areas. Heritage plants and standard perennials weave together with natives throughout. The backyard gardens work their way around an in-ground pool with an interesting variety of vines covering the pool enclosure fence.

As in the front, there are paths, both grass and stepping stones, guiding you past an array of garden beds filled with plants from asters to zebra grass.

    Anglewood Acre

Anglewood Acre is organized as a series of winding paths, some of grass and some snaking through the trees. At every turn, there are carefully curated vignettes, artfully designed with layered vegetation and often whimsy. Bloom times are carefully monitored to ensure that there is interest from March through October.

There are two water features: a secluded pond hiding in plain sight next to the house, and a wildlife pond, not aerated, that serves as a happy home for the resident frogs and turtles. Of note are the numerous varieties of daylilies.
